Why are people defending this man? There is so much evidence against him in official paperwork, people testimonies from his clients, his employees, and even the institutions he worked for AND the vet board itself.
It’s obvious the AQUARIUM won’t admit they hired someone responsible for beating up animals, AFTER the fact. They are trying to cover their ass.
I don't want innocent people to be punished for their actions either, but Sheridan is truly a sick man and is guilty of some truly horrific things, and there are no laws in South Carolina to put him in his place. Did you know that he has called the cops and had arrested several of his customers just because they wanted to see paperwork, or questioned him, not even knowing of his insane background? One of those cases was dismissed and settled only days ago. There are so many complaints against this man, it amazes me he is still allowed to practice.
There is not a witch hunt against him. People's animals are hurt, and they want justice for their loved ones. Sheridan has continued to misdiagnose, neglect, and abuse the animals under his care 'till today, and what's worse, he is now turning on his clients and calling the police on them when they begin to question him. He's nuts, and he has no business in the medical field!! Thank God for people like Toni who are willing to invest a lot of their time, and money to expose this man. Not to mention, have to put up with very threatening letters from his stupid lawyers.
I just moved here from California, and I am on the hunt for a vet for my 2 year old Yellow Labrador, "Max". Folly Road Animal Hospital is the FIRST entry that came up on a google search. The reviews posted there, along with sheridantruth.com have ASSURED that not only will I not take my dog anywhere near that monster, if I ever meet this Sheridan, I will be sure to let him know that the word is spreading and cannot be stopped.
We just took Max to James Island Veterinary Hospital for an exam and heartworm preventative. We met with Dr. Adrianne Sprovero, DVM. It was her first day (not new to the science, just to the location). She and the staff were incredible. They were gentle and caring and treated Max like a prince. Thanks for the recommendation. We listed Toni Zotto/sheridantruth.com as a reference.
To those of you who think this man is a "monster" - Before posting all of this stuff, please go to the same extent in reviewing your own vet's records. Just like human doctors, vets are subject to the same errors...they're human beings just like you and me. You all do know that vets euthanize animals right? that means KILL them. oh, but that's "humane"... You made a website to hate on someone so much? He SAVED my dog, he CURED my dog, Dr. Sheridan is my vet. He is my mother's vet. He is my sisters' vet...all spanning collectively; 15 years. Animals get hurt, things go wrong, and ALL of the content on this site is one sided. Shame on you all.
This man should not be in business anymore. I just moved to the Charleston area, and like the previous lady Folly Road Animal Hospital came up first when I googled veterinarian clinics. I was completely unaware of this man's background and began taking my new puppy there. He gave her her first shots, flea/tick meds, and began treating her for Parvo. I thought this may have been standard even though he ran no tests. He told me if she was sick the next day to bring her back. She did not have the energy she normally did so I called and let them know. He asked me to bring her in that morning and leave her. When I called that afternoon I could hear terrible screaming that sounded like a puppy. I asked if that was her and he said it was and that she didn't like her kennel. He said he had tested her for Parvo and she came up negative as well. Later, after I picked her up, she began wheezing terribly, coughing, and throwing up. I thought because he knew everything that he had been treating her for I needed to take her back to him. He began different treatments.
Each time I went he made comments that were out-of-line and very unprofessional. He would ask me why I was single and always wanted to talk about drinking and going out. I told my family how he was giving me the creeps and making me feel uncomfortable so I quit going there.
My puppy was healthy before I took her there for the first time, and I ended up spending over $300 in a week there in vet bills/medicine. From other vets I realize that the treatment my puppy was getting was unnecessary, incorrect, and a possible cause for her staying sick. I called my mother's vet back home and read the medications off the receipt that he had been treating her with. She was very confused about the treatments and told me I needed to call and explain to them what they were doing is wrong. This was all before I/they knew anything about his history. Today I saw this webpage and was shocked. I knew I had a terrible feeling about this man, but I had no idea people were capable of such cruel things. Looking back I assume that my puppy was miss treated that day. I also took her to the beach one afternoon for a very short amount of time and Dr. Sheridan made me cry saying that I was stupid for thinking she could come in to contact with the things that are on the beach. He made me feel horrible, but he is the one who should feel terrible!! I just cannot believe I took my dog to him. I take her to the James Island Veterinarian Clinic now.
In response to the comment by MO: Sheridan IS A MONSTER!!! Used excessive force on a dog - NOT AN ERROR! Hung a cat by a noose type leash - NOT A ERROR!! Blinded a terrier - NOT A ERROR!!! BOTCHED a spay job - NOT A ERROR!!!! HE is INCOMPETANT - declared by the SC Veterinary Board - TWICE!!!!! Unprofessional Conduct - guilty TWICE!!! Ordered to anger management!!!! The BIG ERROR he made was to misjudge the client that he had arrested for requesting pet records - that client turned around after being found NOT GUILTY and filed a case in civil court and Sheridan settled the case!!! HUGE ERROR!!!!!!!!!! I am thrilled that your pet and those of your mother and sister have not been harmed and hope that continues for you. Others SUFFERED - animals and their human companions! Sheridantruth is about the FACTS - it allows the public to form their own opinion and I applaud it!!!
I previously left out some of Sheridan's former patients: Ande the cat - beaten to death while sedated - NOT an ERROR!! Murray the river otter from the SC Aquarium - died after routine examination and rabies shot - and WHY was Murray transported to Sheridan's office for treatment and not treated on site?? This does not include other victims that filed complaints against Sheridan that were dismissed because they don't meet the criteria of the pathetic laws in SC that are in place for animal protection from veterinarians! Animals cannot protect themselves -they need our voices to speak for them! I have no problem speaking out against Sheridan!
Thank you for keeping this site up no matter how many threats you receive. This "man" has a lot of nerve threatening anybody about anything with his record. I too had a monster for a vet and I will NEVER forgive or forget what he did both to Suki and to me (the little freak sued me for speaking out and tried to get an injunction against my web site and FAILED). And for the "fan" who talked about "errors." Are you kidding me? You need a dictionary to look up the definition of the word "error." The repeated and egregious pattern of some of these "people" has nothing to do with mistakes - it has everything to do with incompetence, negligence, malpractice, and yes, abuse. Count yourself lucky that you are not in our shoes. Our pets paid the ultimate price and those of us who are victims will NEVER stop speaking out. Keep up the good work with this site -- you are saving lives.
This site is totally bogus and many of the stories are just that stories -- complete fabrications. I know for a fact that Dr. Sheridan hired attorneys to go after this site for defamation, but guess what? It's registered in Canada and no one can find the owner. I suspect whoever created this site has never even visited South Carolina, let alone Charleston or James Island.
If this site is truly legitimate, I challenge the webmaster and owner to publish their real names, addresses, and phone numbers. If the information on this site is completely 100% accurate and the truth, you will not mind accepting service of a defamation lawsuit here in Charleston.
Anyway, I KNOW it's not going to happen and my comment will be deleted.
Sean - You are an IDIOT! Can you even READ? All documents on the website are LEGAL - PUBLIC documents originating in civil court actions and hearings before the SC Veterinary Board. Also, published texts from newspapers, veterinary magazines, and television news reports. Hiring attorneys is one thing Sheridan does best and often. One can not defame that which is already defamed! Sheridan's reputation speaks for itself - he is INCOMPETENT!
It is shocking that such severe abuse to animals can be carried out by a vet and that vet should still be in practice. Clearly this barbaric maniac should be kept away from animals (if not humans as well) for the rest of his life. Those defending him and those pursued such a minimal punishment for him are misguided, corrupt fools.
My experieince with Dr. Sheridan was quite different from those above. I met Dr. Sheridan initially three years ago when it was time to say goodbye to my dog Sushi after 16 years. On that day, I found Dr. Sheridan to be perfectly appropriate, professional, experienced and compassionate during this difficult time. He said all of the things I needed to hear and got me through the day. Since then, he has been the vet to two new pets and has acted equally compassionately, appropriately and professionally during our encounters with him. Becoming aware of some of the alleged stories on this site have only furthered my loyalty to him as a vet. Since I will never know what actually happened to these pets, I must go on what I do know, which is that I have had nothing but positive experiences with this practice. I would recommend and have recommended Dr. Sheridan highly to anyone looking for a vet in Charleston and further, recommmend that other authors limit their comments to their actual experience and not allow them to be colored by those of others

New article in DVM magazine about "Dr." Sheridan.
WHAT A TOOL. He shouldn't be anywhere near animals, it's obvious he has a serious mental problem.
Sorry, fixed link
THANK YOU!

Thank you for protecting us.

How can this maniac still be in business? Haven't they revoked his license? I'm sure he's still abusing animals.
I just called to see if his office is still open and IT IS!!!
He even has a website and a couple of dogs. Wonder how many times those poor dogs have been thrown against a wall.

I did my research on Dr. Patrick, and have never found anything negative.... So, if I do, I will let you know Mo.
